X2 Requirements
Can someone tell me again wot the requirements are to run X2?
What do you mean by "again" ?
I don't think it's published yet what the minimum or recomended requirements are.
Maybe I missed something, then I would realy like to know too.
specialy the minimum requirements, since my computer might be to slow but I don't have the funds to buy me a new one.
Not that I'm not going to buy X2 anyway

I think that the recommended were 700mhz, with 256 ram (512 for Win XP) and if you want the full graphics effects (rippling textured hulls etc) then a Direct X 8 optimised card (i.e GF 4). The minimum specs will undoubtedly be below this though. I think it mentioned something on the 2nd from last X2 update interview with Bernd.
Strung out on Britain's high, hitting an all time low
Sorry for the clumsy english cappedup, The_Abyss was right.cappedup wrote:Go on tell us why, master..!!Dutchman wrote:Not that I'm not going to buy X2 anyway

I meant that I am going to buy X2 no matter what, X2 rocks.
I've been looking into Freelancer too and it seems ok to me so far, but the atmosphere or caracter of Freelancer doesn't apeal to me as X2 does.
As far as I can see, Freelancer is still to limited regarding freedom of play, and what I read about it, you can fly only +/- 26 ships, that's not even half of the ships availabe in X2
To me Freelancer makes the same impression as Tachyon the Fringe did, ok but not quite perfect. And who knows maybe I will be able to play X2 on my system although with lesser graphic options untill I do have the money to get me a faster system.
X2 Rocks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm fairly certain that I read somewhere, possibly the old forum, that if your machine could run X-Tension it would also run X2 The Threat (this may have changed) obviously tho it would not run with all the best features on, unless of course you had a great system to run X-T on already!
Its certain that Egosoft will want the maximum amount of people to be able to run the new game and will allow for lower spec machines to do so, and in my opinion graphics aren't the only thing to make a game great!
Having said that tho I have been upgrading my PC recently

He's right mate. I also think that you shouild upgrade the MX 420. They kinda are notoriously slow. Sorry. The 440 is ok, the 460 is a bit better, but if you want to run games smoothly, you will need a better card. Perhaps a GF4 Ti, or the new Radeons (9000/9500/9700PRO).
I seriously doubt that X² will recomend 512 MB RAM, not if it's based on a similar if not the same engine as X-TENSION.
I have a slow CPU 1GHz, but i got the Hercules Radeon 9700 Pro and I'm sure that the game will run smoothly even at the highest settings, so if i were you guys, i'd concentrate on the graphics, not the CPU. However, if you can get both, then go ahead!
My opinion.

Of course, I'd argue you're not going to be able to utilise the full horsepower of that card with a CPU that slow (says the man with a whole 1.2GHz )--you probably could have got a standard 9700, or even a 9500 Pro, without seriously affecting your frame rates.Inimbrium wrote:I seriously doubt that X² will recomend 512 MB RAM, not if it's based on a similar if not the same engine as X-TENSION.

Of course, once you get round to upgrading the CPU your system will SCREAM... (speedwise that is!).
Lowest spec. i've had the beta running on was a 700mhz Duron with 128mb SDRAM, and i think it was using an old ATI Rage Fury but i'd have to check - it wasnt up to much tho. I have a 550mhz K6-3 some where i could give it a try with, i s'pose.Danfin wrote:My PC is 256MB Ram, 550Mhz, 35GB free space on C:\ but no graphics or sound cards..just the inbuilt that comes with a pentium three....would X2 be able to run on my PC?
